Compass

Sibelius Compass contains a learning framework that addresses student composition for students aged 13-20 and beyond, for both acoustic instruments and MIDI technology. The Compass framework contains learning modules organized in a sequential yet flexible approach to exploring musical composition, leading to several different composition projects, a creative arrangement project and a MIDI writing project.

Flexible for different learning needs:
Students work toward these projects by completing the composing activities found in each modules. The modules can be worked through in a logical sequence, or the student and/or teacher may elect to find their own way through the materials in order to achieve their project outcome.Three different levels of difficulty are provided for each level, to suit any student. As the year progresses, students will build up a portfolio of creative ideas that they can expand as they learn each new compositional craft.

Interactive:
Interactive composing pages allow the user to discover and practice compositional concepts such as exploring melodic shapes, harmonizing a melody and working with counterpoint while practicing them, complete with MIDI playback and the built in tutor.
