About Maya 7 Personal Learning Edition with Introducing Maya Book
Maya Personal Learning Edition gives 3D graphics and animation students an opportunity to explore all aspects of the award winning Maya Complete software in a non-commercial capacity.
Those using Maya Personal Learning Edition have access to the main toolsets of Maya Complete including: modeling (NURBS, polygon, subdivision surface), animation, inverse kinematics, Maya Artisan™, Maya Paint Effects™, particles, dynamics, toon shading and Maya's software and hardware renderers.
The Maya Personal Learning Edition restricts users to non-commercial applications through the display of a watermark on images as well as through the use of a special non-commercial file format.
Please Note some of the key differences between the Personal Learning Edition and the full-featured version.
You cannot output 16-bit rendered image formats (such as Tiff16, Maya16IFF, and SGI16).
Camera's film fit offset and film offset are limited to 0.
Rendering is limited to a single CPU.
Images from the following renderers or components of Maya are limited to 1024x768 pixels: Software rendering output in Render View and batch mode; Hardware rendering output in Render View and batch mode; Hardware render buffer; Paint Effects canvas mode and scene mode; UV snapshot in UV texture Editor
Images from the following renderers or components of Maya are limited to the following dimensions: 3D Paint Tool: 1024 x 768 pixels; mental ray for Maya: 512 x 512 pixels; surface sampler: 1024 x 768 pixels
Texture and vertex baking for mental ray have been removed from Maya Personal Learning Edition.
You cannot render to vector formats (such as SWF, SVG, AI, EPS, and SWFT) from the vector renderer.
mental ray satellite rendering is not supported
